Hogeschool Rotterdam, Rotterdam
The project for the Hogeschool Rotterdam consists partly of a new building and partly of renovation. Considering a demaind for a large degree of layout flexibility, large spans (hollow core plates) were chosen with steel girders and concrete columns.
The design took into account different types of education. Small spaces for project education, normal classrooms and a large lecture hall.
The education building has been lifted slightly relative to the surrounding ground level. This had to do with the location relative to the surrounding roads structure and the location in the secondary sea barrage. By lifting the building it is now possible to park underneath the building at ground level.
