The project is the connection between the two main shopping promenades in Rotterdam, the Lijnbaan and the Hoogstraat. At the Oldebarneveltplaats, Beursplein and the Bulgersteynhof are deepened shopping streets, passages, a parking garage and a new construction of C&A (now V&D) has been realised. At the Bulgersteynhof a 102 m high residential tower with 112 luxury apartments is the capstone of the project.
A new tram viaduct has been made at the Oldebarneveltplaats with a sprung rail support in the roof of the shops.
At an early stage of the plan, in addition to the structural design, Zonneveld ingenieurs has determined the building phases and made a cost estimate for the project. Of course, the complex infrastructure of the city centre was taken into account. Traffic and pedestrian flows, cables and pipes, tram and metro also had to be able to function properly during the construction. In addition, the accessibility of the shops had and the metro station had to be guaranteed at all times.
