Stadskantoor, Utrecht
Zonneveld ingenieurs has made the structural design for the new Stadskantoor in Utrecht. The height of the building is approx. 90 m from raised ground level.
The structure consists of concrete cores and a steel structure. The steel structure has been chosen to make the building as 'light' as possible. This is necessary because of the large spans and the many voids of the building. The building consists of a north tower and a south tower, of which the latter is built over the new bus and public transportation terminal.
The floors between the two towers will be formed by steel lattices. The south tower has 2 cores. These cores will be made of steel and provide the stability of this part of the building together with the lattice girders and props in the facade.
